Our Week in Utah

The kids and I drove to Utah to spend a week (which we extended for a few more days) with Steph and Derek and their family. We went to all sorts of places. The kids had such a fun time.

We went to the Hill AFB museum. We had a picnic afterwards. It was a cool place and even cooler b/c it was FREE!!Jason turned 5 during the week we were there, so we had a party for him with all his cousins. The kids decorated the cake and wrapped the presents.

We also went to "This is the Place." I think the moms liked it the best. All the old houses were fun to walk through. They had pony rides and a little petting zoo too.

We went down to Temple Square and watched the Joseph Smith movie. It had been a long time since I had seen it. the kids really liked it! We also went to the Children's museum and walked around the temple grounds.

We took the kids to the park a couple times too...when we felt like they had played too long on the Wii!

Hey...what do you know... Steph and I actually got in one picture together this trip. Nice job Hayden! It was a great vacation with Steph and Kelly (and Derek). Thanks for letting us bombard you for a week and a half. Let's do it again next year!

Temple Primary Activity

Our Primary did a Temple activity in June. It was so nice to be at the temple with the kids. Before the activity, I took some pictures of Hayden in his suit for his baptism "photo shoot." He was fun to take pictures of because he smiled, looked at me, and sat still. I think I take too many pictures of Ava!

At the end of the "tour," the kids were able to go up and touch the temple.

Oh What Do You Do in the Summertime?

We have already had a fun and busy summer. The kids have kept happy and busy and haven't complained too much about being bored yet. Here are some of the things that have been keeping them occupied.

Ava loves to eat anything outside: bugs, rocks, bark...you name it! Now that our garden is producing, she likes to eat unripened strawberries and raspberries, and peas! She hasn't found the green tomatoes yet. I think next year our garden will yield double what it did this year simply because of the Ava factor. These scooters have been well used. The kids love to race them outside in our culsdesac. We've had to pull out our yearly storage of band-aids for all the bloody knees and elbows!

Popsicles are a must...the kids get the cheap kind (usually otter pops) and Ava and I share the tasty expensive kinds.

Our kids have been playing street (driveway) hockey. How long until a window gets broken??? Hasn't happened yet...
Ava loves playing outside. She cries and cries at the door when the boys go out! So I bring my book outside, set up a lawn chair and let her wander around outside. I have read quite a few books this summer already. It has been a great summer so far!
